Comparison of differences and application scenarios between clean benches, biosafety cabinets, and i

Date:2026-02-09

In fields such as biopharmaceuticals, microbiological experiments, and medical testing, which have stringent requirements for a sterile environment, clean benches, biosafety cabinets, and isolators are key equipment for ensuring operational safety and sample purity. Although all three aim to create a sterile space as their core objective, they differ fundamentally in terms of working principles, sterility assurance, protection levels, and application scenarios. This article will conduct a systematic comparison from four core dimensions to clarify the applicable boundaries and core advantages of each type of equipment.

After purifying the indoor air through a built-in High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter, the air is blown vertically or horizontally towards the operation area in a uniform laminar flow, forming a "clean air curtain". This air curtain effectively excludes pollutants such as dust and microorganisms from outside the operation area, while diluting and carrying away the small amount of pollutants generated during the operation process, thus maintaining high cleanliness in the local area. Its airflow circulation mode is primarily "outward protection", which only ensures that the operation object is not contaminated by the outside environment, without providing protection for the operators and the environment. The airflow is eventually discharged directly into the room or returned after simple filtration.
